Supreme Court has criticized Bihar government and police for their inability to deal with Bihar Shelter home case. It stated that FIR has not been lodged correctly in the case.

The apex court said that serious offenses were not mentioned in FIR. Instead, the charges stated in the FIR were of ‘smaller gravity’. Supreme Court has given state government and police 24 hours to correct the FIR copy.

Tejashwi Yadav said that Bihar government has not even given any statement after the SC slammed them. This raises questions on the Nitish government and state police.  He wrote in his Fb post that SC asked current Chief Secretary about why were there no charges registered against accused under IPC Section 377 and POCSO act.

It was back in February 2018 when TISS submitted its audit report on Muzaffarpur shelter home and mentioned about sexual assualt of minor girls happening there. Around 10 months have passed, yet Bihar police has been unable to investigate the matter with some seriousness.

Muzaffarpur shelter home was only one of the 17 shelter homes mentioned in TISS report. However, criminal cases were registered against 10 shelter homes. The bench of justices have called the case as tragic, shameful and inhuman.
