Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a probe in anti-Sterlite protest case where 13 people died by police bullets, reports ANI. It is recorded statements of family members of 13 victims who died in the incident along with many others who were injured.

Actually, 13 people were killed this year due to police firing in Tuticorin. They were protesting against the Vedanta group’s copper smelting plant. These innocent people were protesting against this plant as they considered it to be harmful to their health. Even Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board had rejected its license for harming environment.

Now, CBI has started its investigation in the case where protesting people were shot by police. This case was called as ‘state sponsored terrorism’ where civilians were killed just because they exercised their rights to protest.

Not only that, opposition leaders were booked by Tamil Nadu police for visiting victims in the state. At that time, leaders like MK Stalin were booked for violating section 144.

Recently, people have been again been protesting against NGT order to reopen the plant in the state. People showed black flags and some of them even got arrested.
