Lok Sabha elections will take place exactly one month after today. There will be voting in Maharashtra on 11th April, 19th April, 23rd April and on 29th April. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is  a national level party which is quite important in Maharashtra.

This party is led by Sharad Pawar who was expelled from INC in 1999 for not agreeing to let Congress be led by Sonia Gandhi. However, Congress and NCP are contesting this Lok Sabha elections together. Sharad Pawar has announced that he will not contest the elections.

He said that two members of his party are already contesting for elections and he is giving chance to those who have not contested elections. He himself mentioned that he has contested elections for 14 times and it will be fit to allow others to contest elections.

It is to note that Maharashtra has 48 seats out of which NCP won 4 seats during 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It is being expected that grandson of Pawar, Parth Pawar might fight elections this time and make his entry as a politician. Media reports point that he might contest elections from Maval constituency.
