The Bharatiya Janata Party has been returned empty handed by the Supreme Court in connection with its Rath-Yatras in West Bengal. The apex court has declined the party’s appeal to give an ‘urgent’ hearing of the case.

SC has said that the case will heard like other cases and won’t be given a priority. Also, SC is closed for winter vacations and will not open specially to hear this case.

Actually, Bharatiya Janata Party had plans of going with its Rath Yatras in the state prior to Lok Sabha 2019 elections. These ‘yatras’ were to be flagged off by Amit Shah. However, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee denied party to hold Rath-Yatras in the state.

The single – judge bench had allowed the party to go forth with its plan in the state which was later stayed by a division bench of Calcutta High Court. As a result, BJP filed a plea in SC to allow them to hold Rath-Yatra and hear this case ‘urgently’.

Now, the party has got only disappointment after the apex court declined to consider the matter as urgent.
