Many people are battling for their eyes in Haryana after they underwent cataract surgery at a Government Hospital in the months of February and March. The incident took place in Rohtak where around 38 people are at the verge of losing their eyesight. They have been refereed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) of Rohtak.

This comes as a shock after the state chief minister belongs to a party which talks about providing health insurance cover under Ayushman Bharat, but are unable to ensure proper treatment of people in government hospitals.

38 people were operated on in civil hospitals belonging to different districts. Most of them are suffering from pain and eye infection. Also, among them 20 people were again operated in PGI. It is being claimed in certain media reports that 23 people have already lost their eyesight.

It is being alleged that the problem arose due the medicine which was put in the eyes of patients. Health Minister Anil Vij has ordered investigation into the matter.

However, the question arises about the health services being offered in the hospitals. This is not the first time that people have suffered due to medical negligence and promises of better health by BJP seems to be far. Earlier, many children died in Uttar Pradesh due to lack of oxygen. Will failure in ensuring proper health facilities affect BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections?
