Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students are sitting on hunger strike for 4th consecutive day. But, the vice-chancellor of the university seems to be unmoved by the problems those protesters are facing.

One of the student, Aishe Ghosh, was been hospitalized following her deteriorating health. Her bp and blood sugar level became low due to which she was taken to hospital. She is now fine and has returned to the campus. Still, the VC, Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, has not taken heed of the demands put forth by these protesters.

These students also tried to visit the Jagadesh Kumar on holi to talk about issues related to the campus for which they are on hunger strike. It is usually the head of the institution who visits the people doing hunger strike to know about their demands or either he/she sends some staff. Due to lack of any such efforts, students themselves visited their VC who was busy celebrating holi. When they tried to tell him about their hunger strike, he ignored them and instead shamelessly offered them sweets even after knowing that they cannot eat anything.

JNUSU along with JNU 11 who are on indefinite Hunger strike to Save Education and Save Universities and demanding immediately roll back of anti Student and anti university prospectus have reached JNU VC Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar home. JNU VC has been insensitive in not meeting hunger strikers. So we have come to meet him!

11 students went on hunger strike on 18th march with certain demands. They are against the discontinuation of BA lateral Entry Programme, de-linking of M.phil and PhD programmes, massive fund and seat cuts, attack on social justice by denying deprivation points etc.

Due to constant ignorance and insensitivity shown by the administration and Vice-chancellor, students have called for effigy burning today. The JNU-teachers association (JNUTA) has also shown support to the students.

How long will it take a Vice-chancellor to at least listen to the demands of students belonging to his own university?
