Twitter is trending with ‘Main Bhi Berozgar’ in India today. People are actually raising their concerns about the condition of unemployment in the country. It is to note that when BJP came into power in 2014, it has promised better job conditions to the youth.

Congress leader P. Chidambaram tweeted, “Unemployment rate in India is at 7.1 per cent. It is the highest in 45 years. Why? Will Mr Modi answer?#MainBhiBerozgar.”

HP Congress tweeted, “Unemployment Rate in India increased to 6.10 percent in 2018 from 3.52 percent in 2017. Still govt is not conceding the facts and playing around with the fake* data’s

RJD leader Sanjay Yadav also tweeted on the issue of unemployment saying, “Modiji, Rozgar bandi karke aapko kya mila? Yuvaon ke sath dhokebazi kyun ki? #MainBhiBerozgar.”

There are various reports which have highlighted the bleak future of jobs in India. CMIE released its report in January this year. It said that 1.1 crore people lost their jobs in the year 2018 itself. From this huge number, 88 lakh were women. 91 lakh people had lost their jobs in the rural area alone.

In January itself, report came that the unemployment rate was 3.9 per cent during 2016-17. This was when demonetization. This was comparatively higher than that recorded in 2015-16 (3.7 per cent) and 2013-14 (3.4 per cent). This data has been released in the Labour Bureau’s 6th Annual Employment-Unemployment Survey. These results were never published but were reported by Business Standard.

Even the government employees of BSNL and MTNL are having problems in getting their salaries. According to media reports this month, BSNL employees didn’t received their salaries of till February.

It is obvious that BJP will be questioned on the issue of unemployment during the upcoming elections as it has remained in power for past 5 years.
