PM Modi promised to give house to everyone after coming to power and for this, he started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Housing for All. On the basis of this plan, the dream of having a house was sold to people.
This has been advertised around the world and millions of people have filled the household forms. Now that Prime Minister Modi’s tenure is almost complete, it is important to know that the dream shown to him to the public has been completed or not?
Giving information about Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the Lok Sabha on January 1, 2019, the central government said that a budget of about Rs 1 lakh crore has been earmarked for the construction of houses across the country. But about 20 percent of this has been spent, i.e. Rs 20,892 crore.
Now, if it is to be seen that how much percentage of work is completed, the data of the scheme indicates that by 2022 the target of 12 million houses has been fixed but only 12 lakh houses have been completed.
Meaning around 10 percent of the total goal has been achieved. Looking at the slow pace of the government, experts say that to achieve the goal of making 1.2 crore houses for the needy by 2022, the government will have to complete the construction of 9,813 houses daily now. This seems quite impossible.
