Upendra Kushwaha, minister of state for human resource development, has stepped down from his post after showing distrust in central government. Kushwaha is president of Rashtriya Lok Samta Party and was an ally of BJP.  He is MP from Karakat loksabha constituency in Bihar.

The resignation of Upendra Kushwaha is a big political move as this will have an impact on his alliance with NDA. This is a big news in political sphere prior to announcement of 5 assembly election results which will happen tomorrow.

It is to note that even exit polls are showing a that BJP will taste defeat in the results. Did exit poll predictions also had a negative effect on their alliance? Also, Kushwaha’s party was not getting satisfactory seat share in Bihar in the alliance.

“We will contest more than three seats, the number we had contested in last 2014 Lok Sabha polls,” RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha said last month.

According to ANI, Kushwaha said that PM Modi couldn’t meet expectations of Bihar people. Special status of Bihar is also a lingering problem.

Upendra Kushwaha is also in talks with opposition parties like Lalu Yadav’s RJD. and Congress. The inclination of an ex-central minister who recently resigned from his post to the opposition parties speaks a lot about NDA alliance, that too when 2019 elections are not far away.
