Jamal Kashoggi died when he visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Finally, Saudi government has given this statement while it was denying it since 2nd October. They said that Jamal died due to fist fight.
Jamal was a Saudi critic and there were speculations that his death had some involvment with Saudi Arabia. Saudi government has fired top officials related to the case including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s adviser Saud al-Qahtani.
Even after sacking of 18 Saudi nationals and released statements, US President Trump is still rejoicing his ally. Donald Trump said that what happened was ‘unacceptable’ but he didn’t forgot to mention that Saudi Arabia is a ‘great ally’. He said that he still wants to maintain the multi-billion dollar arms deal with Saudi.
Jamal visited Saudi consulate in Istanbul for collecting documents related to his upcoming marriage. He was a columnist in The Washington Post, and even wrote critical piece on Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The case has taken a sharp turn after Saudi government has accepted that Jamal died when he visited consulate. His body is still missing. All this has made Saudi government stand in the spotlight with many more questions coming up with its invlovement in the case.
