Some media organizations kept on running news related to Mayawati’s statues, but these news reports presented false information. Actually, SC bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi has said that prima facie Mayawati has to return money spent on building statues while she was in power.
But, media kept on spreading false news by saying that Mayawati ‘has to return’ money. It is to note that there was no order to return money, the case was at prima facie level. The apex court will hear the petition which was filed back in 2009 on April 2.
BSP MP Satish Mishra also explained the whole matter, yet media kept on spreading the rumors. Today, BSP supremo Mayawati tweeted by asking media not to distort oral observation of the Hon’ble court.

Actually, advocates Ravikant and Sukumar had filed a petition in court against Mayawati back in 2009. They had asked SC to recover the amount spent on creating statues during her tenure. Mayawati was chief minister of UP from 2007 to 2012. She had built statues of social justice fighters like Ambedkar, Birsa Munda, Kanshi Ram, Jyotirao Phule and others in Lucknow and Noida.he parks holding these statues also hold the legacy of social justice. It is like a museum for the Dalit leaders which tells their stories. However, she had also built statues of elephants which is symbol of her party along with her own statue.
Supreme Court said that prima facie BSP leader Mayawati has to pay back all the public money spent on statues while hearing a plea seeking direction to restrain her from spending public money on building statues. This is prima facie not an order.
