Supreme Court has convicted former interim CBI chief Nageswara Rao and CBI legal adviser of contempt of court. They are said to have ignored court’s order.

Actually, apex court had ordered that joint director of CBI Arun Kumar Sharma should not be transferred. He was probing Muzaffarpur shelter home case. However, convicts ignored the order and transferred him.

A fine of one lakh each has been imposed on Rao and legal adviser by CJI led bench. They have also been sentenced to sit in the court till it rises at four, as a part of their punishment. Court rejected Nageswara Rao’s apology and said that he failed to comply by their orders despite two orders given by it.

It is to note that CJI Ranjan Gogoi has already slammed Nitish government over the trial process in Muzaffarpur shelter home case. He even questioned the transfer of probing officer earlier.

‘Muzaffarpur shelter home case’ is about alleged rape and abuse of girls has been transferred from Bihar to Saket district court of Delhi. Supreme Court has already shifted this case in order to have a ‘free and fair’ trial.
