* EVMs found defective in more than 100 polling booths in Bhopal.
* Assembly elections for 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh happening today.
* 3 polling officers died of cardiac arrest on election day in MP.
* 32.57% voter turnout till 1:30 pm.

Madhya Pradesh elections and news of defective EVMs are going side-by-side. Today, Madhya Pradesh people are casting their votes for 230 assembly seats. However, there have been reports of defective EVMs in more than 100 polling booths in Bhopal.

The problems with EVM is not only limited to Bhopal. It was also found defective in some polling booths of Satna, Bhind, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain and Khargone. Due to this election was delayed for half an hour. People had to suffer due to this.

Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantarov said that defective EVMs have been found in 70 places due to which machines were changed in 100 centers.
Kamal Nath also expressed concern over defective EVMs being used in the voting. This is not the first time that there are such reports on EVM.

It is to note that elections holds very important role in democracy. There are constant reports of defective EVMs and wrong voting. It is a threat to democracy. Mizoram is also witnessing elections today. Mizoram CM had alleged that BJP was trying to buy votes in the state. This is also an attack on democracy. Will elections keep on suffering at the hands of those in power? Will Indians be able to vote free and fairly?
